Get Sum Dim Sum Ride – January 17th

****Due to a prediction of rain we may postpone the ride.  If it is raining Sunday morning we will not ride.  We still have a reservation at the restaurant and I plan to go but if it’s wet, we will drive****

Join Flying Pigeon Los Angeles for our monthly Get Sum Dim Sum ride this coming Sunday, January 17th as we ride in search of great dim sum and good foods.  This month we are traveling back to Monterey Park to visit Elite Seafood on Atlantic just south of Garvey.  After an amazing brunch, we’ll coast down a few blocks to check out a delightful and new French bakery before riding into East LA for a train ride back to the Flying Pigeon shop on the newly extended Gold Line.

Elite has been recognized as one of the absolute best dim sum restuarants in the area and we’ve been eager to head over for a sample to see if they can change our minds that King Hua in Alhambra is the best.  I’ve reserved a table for 20 at 11:30 so we’ll need to mosey over pretty quickly in the morning and make up for speed by enjoying a great brunch!  Chowhound reviews tell the tale here:

Last month we tried this route as we visited NBC Seafood with about 26 riders and enjoyed a great ride that is mostly downhill.  Among the many sights we saw were the Gold Line, South Pasadena’s fine homes, A freeway overpass above the 10 freeway, and a great ride down Monterey Pass road and into East Los Angeles.  This time we’ll make sure to see the small lake at the East Los Angeles Civic Center.

The ride will be about 10 total miles of mostly downhill riding and a single speed bicycle will be sufficient.

Meet the Flying Pigeon LA crew in front of the shop at 3404 N. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90065 at 10 a.m. on the 3rd Sunday of each month for a fun, slow-paced, group ride to a dim sum restaurant in the L.A. area. Meet at the shop at 10 a.m., we leave at 10:30 a.m. Bring about $20 per person to pay for the food and (possible) train fare. Bring your own bike, or borrow one of our shop bikes by making a reservation with us by calling 213-909-8986 or through our contact page: https://flyingpigeon-la.com/contact

Quick notes:

*Dim sum is heavy on meat-only dishes.

*We ride slooowwwly – it is easier to socialize that way!

Our rental bikes are all spoken for this week but if you have your own ride, please do come along.  No need to RSVP.
