Cargo Bike Date Night Ride on Tuesday, May 11, 2010

A variety of cyclists and cargo bikes at Flying Pigeon LA bike shop.

A sampling of the sights and cycles we'll have on hand during our Cargo Bike Date Night Ride.

Let me set the table for our Cargo Bike Date Night Ride happening this Tuesday, May 11, 2010: wine and cheese at our bike shop at 6; a vegetarian dinner at Good Girl Dinette at 7:30; with a pleasant bike ride between the two in beautiful North East Los Angeles. Sound interesting?

Meet us at the Flying Pigeon LA bike shop (located at 3404 N. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90065) on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 6 p.m. for a taste of wine and cheese. After the meet-up and wine tasting at the shop, we’ll hit the road around 7 p.m. and arrive at Good Girl Dinette (located at 110 North Ave 56, Los Angeles, CA 90065) around 7:30 p.m. – where a prix fixe vegetarian meal will be served family style ($20 per person for the dinner).

After our meal, it’s a just a quick return ride back to the Flying Pigeon LA shop to the bike, train, bus, or car you arrived on.

A perfect ride for a date, a perfect ride to sample our small library of the world’s best cargo bikes, and a perfectly good excuse to enjoy an otherwise quotidian Tuesday evening.

Steve Bode from Yuba Bicycles will be on hand with his versatile cargo bikes to show off the newest version of their Yuba Mundo cargo bikes.

You can bring your own bike, or better yet borrow one of our collection of cargo bikes for the ride! We’ll have a Dutch-made VanAndel Bakfiets; a Chinese-made bakfiets knock-off; a Batavus Personal Delivery; a Danish-made Nihola Family bike; and a sampling of Yuba Mundo cargo bikes being brought in just for this event for you to examine, test-ride, and gawk at. Please contact us at info@flyingpigeon-la.com to book a bike for the ride (we’ll figure out who rides what the evening of the ride).

There is no fee or charge to borrow one of our bikes, but you have to pinkie swear that you’ll be nice to them on the ride.

The dinner will cost $20 per person, which we’ll pay directly to the good folks at Good Girl Dinette.

Getting to Flying Pigeon LA bike shop – we’re served by the 81 and 83 lines and are just blocks away from the Heritage Square Gold Line Station.

By car, 110 Freeway, exit Avenue 43, left on Figueroa St., park at Avenue 37 and N. Figueroa St.

The Flying Pigeon LA bike shop is located at 3404 N. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90065.

Good Girl Dinette is located at 110 North Ave 56, Los Angeles, CA 90065.

Metro Rider pro tip: If you want to skip the ride and do the whole thing via Metro, you can meet us at the shop at 6 p.m. to sip wine and check out bikes, then pick up the Gold Line at Heritage Square and take it to the Highland Park station. Good Girl Dinette is one block from the Highland Park station.

Thanks for organizing such a fun ride! We had a great time, enjoyed the company and food, and 10 miles of riding around NELA on a beautiful night. Let’s do it again soon.
