We just picked up a couple of gorgeous Velorbis bicycles. They arrived in the shop yesterday and instead of repairing the stack of old Huffy’s we have waiting for us, we spent the afternoon building and photographing these beauties.

Bike number one is a small (approx. 50cm) Danneborg step-through in a bright candy red.

The Danneborg we have at the shop is equipped with a rear 5-speed Sturmey-Archer hub, drum brakes, and a brilliant Lumotec light set powered by a dynamo in the front hub. The bike also comes equipped with a beautiful Brooks B67s saddle and matching Brooks leather grips.

The paint on the Danneborg simply pops with a bright candy red accented by the cream tires and the honey brown leather saddle and grips. MSRP for the Danneborg is $1,895.

Bike number two is a large (approx. 60cm) Student Balloon classic in mithril silver.

The Student Ballon is equipped with a rear 3-speed Sturmey Archer hub, drum brakes, and striking Fat Frank creme tires. The bike also comes equipped with a handsome Brooks B67.

The low down on Fat Franks: they look great, ride smoothly, and are puncture resistant.

Fat Frank tires, from Schwalbe  (our favorite tire makers), are high pressure large diameter tires. The high pressure means that you won’t lose as much speed on these tires are you would on lower-grade cruiser tires of the same diameter. The large diamter assures you of an incredibly smooth ride, regardless the state of Los Angeles’ streets.

The Student Balloon, like all good city bikes we carry, offers a commanding view of the street as you ride along. You get to feel a little prime minister-ish after a while. The brief case/u-lock/umbrella holder on the rear rack will allow you to maintain your dignity if you choose to commute using the bike – an option that is standard on all of Verlobis’ line of city bikes.

MSRP for the Student Balloon is $1,395.

If you’d like to try either of these bikes on a test ride, please stop by the shop! We’re open Wednesday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

I Love the red and the silver, they both are very different from each other, yet
very chic. It’s so UNBELIEVABLE that the whole world has come together to
change our ways of transportation, going back to cycling, we not only help
our air quality, we become more fit and we couldn’t look anymore sexier
riding a bicycle. I hope Vancouver B.C. Canada will carry those beautiful
bikes soon. After all Vancouver is the most beautiful place on earth.

Velorbis bikes are indeed gorgeous things…in Copenhagen, a couple of the larger department stores have prime retail shop window and floor space devoted to Velorbis. As the primary means of transportation in that City, bikes are connected to lifestyle in a very mainstream, retail way.

I have images of these stores and the bikes if you are interested.

Wish we could get Velorbis Bikes in Phoenix!!
