Park[ing] Day 2010 at Flying Pigeon LA

20090918_11-29-11

This Friday, September 17, 2010, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. that Flying Pigeon LA bike shop will create a park in front of our shop for Park[ing] Day. Park[ing] Day is an annual event focused on using the space normally used to store a vehicle (parking places) to instead serve as a parks, a gathering place, or a space to quietly reflect.

We made our first Park[ing] Day park in 2008, about a month after opening our shop. Last year’s “Pigeon Park” was a collaborative effort, with a sofa and sun shade on loan from the Bike Oven (our next-door neighbors).

This year, we’re going to go for something a little more … active. Boche ball, or croquet, with lemonade and iced tea sounds about right.

If you’d like to join in the fun, our “Pigeon Park” will be open from about 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010 in front of the Flying Pigeon LA bike shop (located at 3404 N. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90065). You can find out more about Park[ing] Day at the Park[ing] Day LA web-site.
