Get Sum Dim Sum Ride for 11/21/2010

This month we take our annual hiatus from delicious Dim Sum and enjoy some of our OUTSTANDING neighborhood artists as we take part in the Arroyo Arts Collective 18th Annual Discovery Tour.

Once a year in November the fine artists, influential designers, muffler repair shop artists, and painters throughout the Highland Park area open their design studios, home offices, welding yards and photo studios for a day long extravaganza of art and good living.

We at the Flying Pigeon want to encourage not only good art and good living but making our community stronger by offering a guided bicycle tour of the neighborhood during the tour. We’ll meet at our usual time of 10:00 at 3404 N. Figueroa Street and ride into the mix at 10:30AM where we will stop and visit at least 4 studios along the way. Should you want to take a bit more time, see a specific artist or simply stop and enjoy some delicious brunch at the many fine restaurants and coffee shops in the area we’ll help you get there.

Unlike our normal Get Sum Dim Sum rides, there is a fee associated with this tour and you should buy your ticket online at this site Arroyo Artists Collective. Tickets pre-sale for only $10.00 and our first stop will be at the Lummis house to pick up will call tickets. Tickets on the day of the tour are $15.00.

We look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10AM.

The fine print:
– Please arrive with a functioning bicycle or make an arrangement with us for a rental bike (only $10.00). No services will be available before the ride. The shop is open from 10AM onwards.
– We follow all traffic rules and ride at a relaxed pace. Novice cyclists are encouraged and welcome to join. The ride distance will be between 4-6 miles total with ample stops. Helmets are encouraged but not required for adults.
– Children are welcome and encouraged to come but please ensure they have helmets, are able to ride at a moderate pace on surface streets and able to do at least three somersaults. (we will test this in the park)
