Roy, the owner of La Abeja restaurant in Highland Park, has been running his family’s home-style Mexican restaurant for over 30 years. For 25 of those, they haven’t been open much later than 4 p.m.

With the Bike Oven bike repair collective open until 10 p.m. most nights, the Flying Pigeon LA bike shop, nearby Elvis Hair Salon, and SJR Discount Store staying open most nights until 8 p.m., Roy and his family figured that the groups of people hanging out might want a little something to eat.

So, if you’d like to try some affordable, delicious, home-style Mexican food, steps away from the Gold Line Heritage Square Station, look no further than La Abeja.
