Cafe in the Heights Now Open

Cafe in the Heights is now open for business from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

I have been passing by a shuttered store-front with a sign reading “Cafe in the Heights” for over a year now, and I think everybody in the area was a little bit saddened by the sight of this new sign without a new store to go with it.

Well, Lincoln Heights, Happy Valley, Rose Hills, and Montecito Heights neighbors: Cafe in the Heights is now open!

I don’t know how they did it, but somehow they jumped over a million and one hurdles (health, gas, electrical, zoning, financial) to finally open a beautiful new storefront in the inner city. I have stopped in twice now, and it is clear that they are going through their trial run period (as every cafe that has opened in this area has once the permits clear).

As of right now they’ve got some awesome smoothies and fruit juice (from the eastside juice co, “La Cremosita”), tasty muffins and scones, and a whole lotta’ coffee latte espresso stuff (that I don’t drink). Their prices are reasonable, the wifi is flowing, and the tables are pretty empty (for now).

If you’re looking to peacefully hang out in the ‘hood, and watch the show on Broadway pass by, the Cafe in the Heights, 3510 N. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90031 is open for business! Their hours are from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. daily (as of today, when I asked them – subject to change, I’m sure, once the crowds show up!).

After attending a concert in Los Angeles, I stop by Cafe in the Heights to try their coffee. I end up ordering a terrrific roastbeef sandwich to go along with my latte. The food, latte and service were GREAT! THis is truly a great place to hang out, I have not seen any coffe shop in Lincoln Heights before. I would always travel outside the height for my latte. It is GREAT we now have a business I (we) can enjoy.

    Linda,

We feel the same way – and with Antigua nearby in Cypress Park, Cafe de Leche over on York and Avenue 50, Cycleway Coffee on Monterey Road in Hermon we’re filling up with nice new businesses to take over some of that vacant retail space.

I would have to say that cafe in the heights is a beautiful space! It is nicely decorated and has an amazing atmosphere. The only problem is the coffee & the music.
I couldn’t drink their coffee because it was so bad. I don’t know what brand they use but it tasted worse than folgers! (Maybe it was just that batch and it had been sitting there for a while?) Also, I didn’t want to listened to kIIS FM and their commercials while I was trying to study. Maybe they could bring an MP3 player and have a pre-selected list of music? The coffee shop definitely has potential.

Well, Jessica, they did just open up! I say give them another try. Their sandwiches have been pretty bomb every time I’ve had one, and they have real gelatto now too.
