Spoke(n) Art Ride and Art Show, Saturday, January 9, 2010

If you’re looking for a fun way to spend your Saturday evening this coming Saturday, January 9, 2010 – consider riding your bike with us in the Spoke(n) Art Ride. The Spoke(n) Art Ride is a once-a-month bicycle tour of art galleries in North East Los Angeles (organized by NELA Arts) that features as slow pace, lots of interesting conversation, and loads of art in all sorts of mediums, quality, and styles.

We’re going to leave the Flying Pigeon LA bike shop (located at 3404 N. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90065) at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010. Our first stop will be the official start point for the ride, at the corner of Figueroa and York in Highland Park. The ride will end back at the Flying Pigeon bike shop and the Bike Oven (located two doors down the street from our shop) – where we’ll have a mini street party and bike-a-thon.

This month we’re holding another joint exhibit with the Bike Oven entitled “Sleep is for the Weak”, which features all sorts of medium and small sized paintings and prints from the dreamlike to the nightmarish. A reception for the how will coincide with our return to the Flying Pigeon LA/Bike Oven complex (around 10 p.m.). The show was curated by Simon from Dirt Bike Impressions (the girl behind the Flying Pigeon LA post card series).

The Flying Pigeon LA bike shop is located just one and a half blocks away from the Heritage Square Goldline Station (follow the bike lane painted on Marmion Way by the station) near the corner of Avenue 37 and N. Figueroa St. The shop is also served by the MTA’s 81 and 83 bus (24 hour service on these buses). If you’re driving – we’re located just off the Avenue 43 exit of the 110 North.
