This Saturday, September 18, 2010, at 7 p.m. at the Flying Pigeon LA bike shop (located at 3404 N. Figueroa St.) we’re going to host a fundraiser for our friend Stephen Box. Stephen is running for City Council in Los Angeles, in District 4 (the Los Feliz area).
Stephen is going to give a brief talk about his candidacy and his plans, once elected, for Los Angeles. We’re going to provide food and drink, and host a nice catered bike ride through the neighborhood. Bring your bike and bring your checkbook! $30 minimum donation payable at the door (we accept cash, cards and checks).
The list of his work in the community, and the bike community in particular, is too long to recount here. A brief “best of” list would have to include co-authoring the Cyclists’ Bill of Rights, the creation of an alternative Bike Plan for Los Angeles, and the innumerable phones calls he’s made on behalf on injured cyclists.
