There’s a New Blogger in Town

Hello fans of Flying Pigeon LA. My name is Mikey Wally and I’m excited to announce that I will be blogging here for a minute. I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself.

I moved to LA in 2007. I’ve lived mostly in Downtown and I’ve never owned a car here. I only know the city by bike. The Valley to Long Beach, Venice to East LA. That’s where I roll.

One of the first things I did in LA was the Bike Writers Collective. We wrote up a Cyclists’ Bill of Rights that has been widely endorsed by Neighborhood Councils across Los Angeles.

I also bicycled from NYC to LA as part of a marketing campaign for 42 BELOW Vodka.

I also shoot lots of photos. And what’s a blog post without at least one photo? I couldn’t find a good photo of myself (probably because I’m always behind the camera), so I posted this self portrait. Not a self portrait you say? If you look really close, you can see my reflection in the bar end plug. If you want to see my mug in person, I will be shooting photos at the beggining of this week’s Spoke(n)Art Ride.

By the way, if you have any questions, you can ask me anything. I would love some reader feedback. What do you want Mikey Wally to post next time?

    Hey!
Take a picture of the new Johnnie Blue going on the rebuilt Flying Pigeons.
Take snapshots of what it’s like to buy a Christmas tree with a bakfiets.
Take a picture of each kind of bike against that cool brick wall on the other side of the shop; it’ll give some scale.
Take a video of each bell in the shop; some of those are ding-dongs!
Give your riding impressions of some of the bikes; an upright bike is a unique riding experience.
Start a collection of shots of lugged welds.
