The middle school down the street from our shop, Nightingale Middle School, has a program, D3 Lab, on campus that is helping local kids do creative, engaging, work on projects they are interested in.
We were asked to attend a workshop on bicycling a little while ago, along with CicLAvia coordinator Joe Linton, and we made it into the video above (around the 5:20 mark). Our visit encouraged a student to request bike lanes from our local councilman, Ed Reyes.
It is good to see an LAUSD school that is open to the view that children should have a say in their education. That isn’t how things were run when I was in an LAUSD middle school. Way to go Nightingale, and keep up the good work D3 Lab!
