Rowena Needs You

The road diet and bike lanes on Rowena in Silver Lake are turning 90 today. Ninety days old, that is, which means, since they are as tediously usual a “pilot project,” they are to be evaluated at a special meeting called by Council Member Tom LaBonge for Thursday.

Unfortunately, ninety days is not long enough for a fair evaluation, making one wonder whether the project wasn’t designed to fail, but…we can make a case for it, if we show up.

So, if you live, work, own property, or shop in the vicinity of Rowena, get on over to the meeting and let LaBonge know that you favor the lanes.

Be polite, be emphatic, and focus on safety and ease of access to the street’s shops and restaurants, and maybe we won’t be thrown back into path of scofflaw drivers speeding past the area’s merchants, where we were before the road diet.
