Stephen and Enci Box are trying to both make a movie and make a point: though Hollywood has a lot of environmentally conscious people working in it, they don’t make movies in an environmentally conscious way – but that can change!
The Box’s (Boxes?) have started Rebel Without a Car Productions and have just started shooting their first film, “At What Price”, using their experience as cyclists, environmentalists, community builders, and advocates.
The photo above is a case in point: RWaC Productions sent out the word, “We need cargo bikes to haul film gear!” and verily, the masses kicked down a host of heavy (and not-so-heavy) bikes to help with the work.
Flying Pigeon LA put two of our finest cargo bikes into the mix: our XtraCycle conversion (which we offer as a complete bike or as a service to customers looking to mod their bikes); and, the Flying Pigeon brand bakfiets we just got into the store.
Team Flying Pigeon (Msr. C. Leather and Beth!) swooped into the shop this past Friday and rode the bikes off to the shoot. If you’re interested in taking these very same bikes for a test drive, they are back at the shop and ready to be put to use carrying your next bundle of groceries, passengers, or film gear!
The XtraCycle conversion service (which includes the kit and a full tune-up of the bike being modified) costs $600.
The Flying Pigeon brand bakfiets retails for $1,799 and is available in red (and supplies are LIMITED!).
Flying Pigeon LA is a retailer of Flying Pigeon, Batavus, Gazelle, Pashley, and Torker brand bicycles (among others) – the shop specializes in bicycles and accessories for “slow cycling” as a lifestyle and fashion statement (which we find it is in the U.S.).
