What started as an excuse to try out some good food on our Chinese made bikes has become a monthly ride for us at Flying Pigeon Los Angeles. Leaving from our shop every 3rd Sunday morning our rides tend to move at a relaxed and leisurely pace as we head towards local dim sum palaces in Chinatown like Empress Pavilion, the new Chinatown venues in Alhambra like King Hua and even some specialized dumpling shops like Luscious Dumplings in San Gabriel.
Rides are led by Adam Bray-Ali or Josef Bray-ALi and are free to join. All attendees split the bill for food (at the table or we pay individually at some places).
We encourage people to come out and enjoy the many fine bicycles we sell including single speed Flying Pigeons imported directly from Tianjin China, Batavus bikes from the Netherlands and a fine array of cargo bikes, and beach cruisers made all over the world.
Kids and young adults are welcome to join but are required to wear a helmet during the rides as we are in the State of California, which requires them on those under 18.
Want to borrow a bike? That’s no problem, we have a small rental fleet available at $20 per bike.
Some of the places we’ve been in the past year:
- Triumphal Palace (now Lunasia)
- Luscious Dumplings
- Mission 261 (closed)
- Szechuan Best (closed)
- Empress Pavilion
- Ocean Seafood
- Philippe’s French Dip
- Urth Cafe in Downtown LA
- Cafe de Leche – Highland Park
- King Hua – Alhambra
Have a group that wants to arrange a more private tour with us? Send us an email with your ideas and we can find a way to make this work. We can supply groups up to 15 people with bikes and guides to the various delicious eateries in our area.
